AMFEMS and St. Matthews FD units respond to apartment fire
One adult occupant transported to the hospital
East Louisville, KY, October 28, 2025, around 9 :42 a.m., units from Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS and St. Matthews FD responded to an apartment fire on the 10000 block of Shining Willow Drive, off Westport Road.
First units arrived within four minutes of dispatch and found a working fire in a two-story, multi-unit apartment building, with heavy smoke pouring through the eaves on the front of the building. Crews quickly made entry and conducted an interior fire attack, extinguishing the main body of fire, and containing the fire to the unit of origin. They also forced entry into the adjacent apartment, which was unoccupied, that unit sustained no fire, smoke, or water damage.
Two adult occupants had exited the structure prior to crews’ arrival. One adult male occupant was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene by medic crews and transported to University of Louisville hospital—injury appears to be non-life-threatening. The apartment sustained extensive fire damage to the bedroom, which is where the fire started. The residents will be relocated to another apartment in the same complex.
No injuries to fire personnel were reported. It took 32 firefighters and medical personnel 25 minutes to control the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Two adult occupants displaced
East Louisville, KY (October 24, 2025) – Today around shortly before 8 p.m., units from Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS and St. Matthews FD responded to a residential structure fire on the 3100 block of Stonebridge Road, off Westport Rd. near Tom Sawyer Park.
First units arrived within five minutes and found a working fire on a two-story, single-family dwelling with fire coming through the roof in the center portion of the home. Crews quickly deployed a large caliber hose line to knock down the main body of fire, they then made entry and conducted an interior fire attack, containing the fire to the structure of origin.
Two adult occupants had exited the structure prior to crews’ arrival, suffering no injuries. The home sustained extensive fire damage, the residents will be temporarily staying with neighbors.
No injuries to fire personnel were reported. It took 30 firefighters 48 minutes to fully control the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

One occupant transported to the hospital
Middletown, KY on October 19, 2025 around 1:00 a.m., units from Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS responded to a residential structure fire on the 300 block of Barcelona Drive, off South English Station Road.
First units arrived within five minutes and found a working fire on a two-story, single-family dwelling with fire showing through the rear roof area. Crews quickly made entry and conducted an interior fire attack, containing the fire to the structure of origin.
One adult occupant who was out of the structure prior to crews’ arrival, suffered non-life-threatening thermal injuries, was stabilized at scene by our med crews and transported to University of Louisville hospital.
It took 34 firefighters 40 minutes to control the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Multi-department units respond to apartment fire in Lyndon
EAST LOUISVILLE, KY On October 16, 2025, at 2:17pm – Units from Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS and St. Matthews Fire Department units responded to a report of a residential structure fire on the 10000 block of Whipps Mill Rd.
First units arrived within four minutes and found a working fire on a two-story, multi-unit apartment building with fire showing through a first-floor window. Crews quickly made entry and conducted an interior fire attack, quickly extinguishing any visible fire. The fire was contained to the apartment of origin, two immediately adjacent units sustained minor smoke damage.
No injuries were sustained by anyone at the scene, though firefighters assisted one adult occupant from a second-floor bedroom in one of the adjacent apartments. 9 total occupants from the three units were displaced and will be assisted by the American Red Cross to arrange lodging. It took 30 firefighters 20 minutes to control the fire. The fire was caused accidentally when items placed too close to the stove ignited while cooking.
