Google Chrome


Translate pages in Chrome on a computer

You can use Chrome to translate a page into other languages.

On your computer, open Chrome.

Go to a page you want to translate.

On the right of the address bar, select Translate .

You can right-click anywhere on the page and select Translate to [Language].

Select your preferred language.

If Translate doesn’t work, refresh the page.


On your Android device, open Chrome.

Go to a page you want to translate.

In the notification at the top of the screen, tap the language that you want to translate the page to.

To change the default language:

Tap Settings   More languages.

Select the language.

To always translate pages in this language, tap Settings   Always translate pages in [language].

Not working? Try refreshing the page. If you still can't tap Translate, the language might not be available for translation.


On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome.

Go to a page you want to translate.

At the top, select the language you want to translate to.

To change the default language, tap Settings   More languages and select the language.

Chrome will translate the page this one time.

To always translate page in this language, tap Settings  Always translate [language].

Aple Safari


Safari has built-in webpage translation for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, using the page view icon (or double 'A') in the address bar to offer translation to your preferred language, but you may need to add languages in Settings first; if the icon doesn't appear, ensure the language is added in System Settings > General > Language & Region. 


On iPhone & iPad

Add Languages (If needed): Go to Settings > General > Language & Region > Add Language... and add your desired languages.

Open Safari: Visit a webpage in another language.

Tap the Icon: Tap the page view icon (looks like a double 'A') in the address bar.

Translate: Tap Translate to [Language], or select a language from the menu.

Revert: Tap the icon again and select View Original to switch back. 


On Mac

Add Languages (If needed): Add languages in System Settings > General > Language & Region.

Open Safari: Go to a foreign webpage.

Click Translate: Click the translate icon (or double 'A') in the Smart Search field (address bar).

Select Language: Choose your target language from the menu.

View Original: Click the icon again to switch back. 

Microsoft Edge


To translate a page in Microsoft Edge, visit the foreign language site, and it will usually prompt you to translate; if not, click the Translate icon (two overlapping squares) in the address bar, select your target language from the dropdown, and click "Translate" or right-click the page and choose "Translate to [Your Language]" for manual translation, with options to set it to always translate. 


Automatic Translation (Prompt)

Go to a webpage in a different language.

Edge detects the language and shows a pop-up asking to translate.

Click "Translate" in the prompt or select a language from the dropdown. 


Manual Translation (No Prompt)

Click the Icon: Tap the Translate icon (looks like text with lines) in the address bar.

Right-Click: Right-click anywhere on the page and choose "Translate to [Your Language]".

Select Language: In the Translate menu, choose your desired language and click "Translate". 

Settings & Preferences

Always Translate: In the translate pop-up or address bar icon menu, select "Always translate from [Language]" to skip prompts for that language.

Never Translate: Choose "Never translate [Language]" to stop seeing translation offers for specific languages.


Immersive Reader: Use the Immersive Reader (book icon) for reading, then access translation through its Reading preferences.
