Multi-department units respond to apartment fire in Lyndon

EAST LOUISVILLE, KY On October 16, 2025, at 2:17pm – Units from Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS and St. Matthews Fire Department units responded to a report of a residential structure fire on the 10000 block of Whipps Mill Rd.

First units arrived within four minutes and found a working fire on a two-story, multi-unit apartment building with fire showing through a first-floor window. Crews quickly made entry and conducted an interior fire attack, quickly extinguishing any visible fire. The fire was contained to the apartment of origin, two immediately adjacent units sustained minor smoke damage.

No injuries were sustained by anyone at the scene, though firefighters assisted one adult occupant from a second-floor bedroom in one of the adjacent apartments. 9 total occupants from the three units were displaced and will be assisted by the American Red Cross to arrange lodging. It took 30 firefighters 20 minutes to control the fire. The fire was caused accidentally when items placed too close to the stove ignited while cooking.
